Special Piping Materials (SPM) regards the quality of its products, materials and project management, and the health and safety of its employees as key elements to the business. To reflect this, SPM England, SPM Scotland, SPM Houston, SPM Singapore and SPM Australia have ISO 9001:2008 certification.
The company’s commitment to quality and health and safety is reinforced to all employees from day one as the importance is emphasised during their training and induction period. Staff members are encouraged to be proactive and bring any concerns or suggestions they have to the attention of the management team. Regular staff meetings are held during which both subjects are discussed and actions taken as required.
The whole of the SPM network of companies are linked by Quality software, which ensures we are all following the same quality procedures.
The management team holds regular review meetings during which, both quality and health and safety are discussed with actions determined and reported on. These include reviews of internal audits, corrective actions, supplier performance, as well as any health and safety matters.
We operate within the ‘Health and Safety at Work Act 1974’ and the ‘Environmental Protection Act 1990’ and SPM England obtained certification for both ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Top management demonstrate leadership by having a clear vision or our organisation’s strategic direction, objectives and culture through understanding our industry, customers and impacts on our surrounding community. Top Management have adopted responsibility for delegating and directing people to ensure performance objectives are met and continual improvement can be achieved by providing leadership to other supporting roles in the organisation to ensure overall targets can be met.
