Special Piping Materials (SPM) regards the quality of its products, materials and project management, and the health and safety of its employees as key elements to the business. To reflect this, SPM England, SPM Scotland & SPM Houston are ISO 9001:2008 approved with our Singapore and Australia offices currently working towards approval.
The company’s commitment to quality and health and safety is reinforced to all employees from day one as the importance is emphasised during their training and induction period. Staff members are encouraged to be proactive and bring any concerns or suggestions they have to the attention of the management team. Regular staff meetings are held during which both subjects are discussed and actions taken as required.
The whole of the SPM network of companies are linked by Quality software, which ensures we are all following the same quality procedures.
The management team holds regular review meetings during which, both quality and health and safety are discussed with actions determined and reported on. These include reviews of internal audits, corrective actions, supplier performance, as well as any health and safety matters.
We operate within the ‘Health and Safety at Work Act 1974’ and were awarded with the OHSAS 18001 standard in February 2014. The management team’s commitment to health and safety is shown by our current policy statement, the OHSAS 18001 approval and the fact that all staff members are encouraged to report any concerns. Employees regularly undertake health and safety briefings, to ensure they are fully up-to-date with Special Piping Materials’ policies and procedures and know how to behave in the event of an accident or evacuation (i.e. which members of staff are trained in first aid and who fire marshals).
